NAIDOC Week
This year we celebrated another successful NAIDOC event at St John Paul College. This is the school way of showing awareness of and respect for the traditional Aboriginal custodians of this land on which we meet, and to recognize the continuing connection of our Gumbaynggirr people to their Country, and waters. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of National Aborigines and Islander Day of Observance.
The day started with a Big Breakfast with many parents, students and staff enjoying a bacon and egg roll, along with OneMob Radio doing interviews with students for their morning broadcast. It then continued on into the Hall to participate in the NAIDOC assembly, run by the school leaders/Aboriginal students.
We must remember that NAIDOC is not just a celebration for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities but for all Australians.
