Vinnies Service Medallion Program

We’re excited to share a new initiative now available to our students – the Vinnies Service Medallion (VSM) Program, a student-focused service and leadership opportunity developed by the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW.

The VSM Program is designed to foster a heart for social justice while giving students practical ways to make a difference in their community. Through a flexible, recognition-based model, students in Years 7-12 can take part in service initiatives such as fundraising drives, awareness campaigns, volunteering (such as with the Vinnies Van), and advocacy work  - both within the school and beyond.

This program celebrates real-world contributions and helps students develop valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, initiative, and communication. Students are recognised with certificates and medallions, and their efforts can support applications for scholarships, tertiary education, and employment.

How it works:

  • Students participate in VSM-approved activities.

  • They upload a short description and a photo of their involvement.

  • A staff member confirms participation – no grades or formal assessments required.

  • Optional reflection tools are available to support deeper learning.

There are five levels of recognition, starting from a Bronze Certificate for introductory engagement, progressing through to the Gold Level for sustained, student-led impact.

Whether students engage through school projects, parish youth groups, or independent volunteering, the VSM provides a meaningful way to put faith and compassion into action.

We encourage all students to consider being part of this inspiring initiative. For more information take a look at the Program outline or see Mrs Gennat for more information. Students can sign up via this link.

Together, let’s continue building a culture of service, justice, and community at our school.

Hands that serve, hearts that care. Our school community proudly supporting the Vinnies Van in Term 2 and making a difference.
